I didn't mean to make it sound like that.
if I had an updated product I wanted to introduce to replace a very well recieved product and had quite a few on hand, I wouldn't want to create a situation that would work against the new or old product.
seems like discontinuing the older product, which seemed to create an atmosphere of " I'd better get one of these before they are all gone" and then sometime later introduce the "state of the art" and that seems to promote a re-vitalization of interest with owners of the previous model and a new interest in the re-designed model. in other words, you sold out leaving people wanting more, then after a little time you give it to them.
I would consider adding the re-designed model, notice I said add... let's see it

just good business practices, along with they wanted to make a splash

I do hope its true, it has me exited about the possibility.
